Local Company Crosses Midway Point of Round-the-Clock Week-Long Concrete Pour At New Ethanol Plant
Quality Ready Mix began delivering concrete to the new GO Ethanol Plant in Lima at 6:30am on Monday, and don’t expect to complete the job until early this Saturday. They are supplying the concrete for the silos at GO Ethanol. “Because of the technique used to pour silos, once the work starts, they can’t stop,” said John Hirschfeld, vice president of Quality Ready Mix. “We are delivering about 28 yards per hour, and will total 2600 yards delivered by the end of the week.”
Quality has been supplying concrete for two different contractors constructing the GO Ethanol plant since early this year. This silo pour is being supplied from Quality’s new batch plant in Shawnee at Dixie Highway and Buckeye Rd. All stone and sand being used in the pour comes from the local Con-Ag quarry located in Noble Township north of St. Marys and from Ward Materials in Columbus Grove.
“This new GO Ethanol Plant is an example of how the push to alternate fuel sources is helping our local economy”, said Hirschfeld. “We feel very fortunate as a company to have been involved in this large construction project.”
Quality Ready Mix supplies advanced performance concrete to commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural and governmental clients throughout West Central Ohio. Owned & operated by the same local family for three generations, Quality Ready Mix serves clients from five batch locations: St. Marys, Wapakoneta, Lima Shawnee, Lima, and Bluffton.
